The face of terror

Ok, so I was cruising around the internet when someone linked me this video. I dare you to watch the first 5 minutes without even cringing once. It won’t happen. It basically sums up a lot of what I have to say about anime fans from time to time, but this puts all of us in such a negative light for a few reasons. Also just like everything to Anime, Vic Mignogna is in it(at 21:00 in the video is where the awesome begins!). Stereotypes do exist people!
In all seriousness, this is at least a sweet story of someone trying to better themselves by alienating anything that they know. She also shows a legitimate interest in pursuing voice acting and has a realistic idea about the fact she needs an education and training. But I digress, LOL!
Rage-worthy Video after the jump.

I’m not sure what to say about this choice but its pretty much the most fugly packaging I’ve seen in years. From what I hear it is raising sales and making the DVDs stand out more on the shelves, but I must say the color is unnatural on my shelf which is a mix of black, blue, red, and oddly enough green xbox 360 containers though that is the case not the sleeve so its not as bright as these S.A.V.E. labeled DVDs. I just don’t care for them, and I wish they would just shrink down the big ugly label and let the animes title take up more real estate on the side and front. They could have settled on a little green stripe that wraps the cover but no they went for the over sized label that says hey I’m cheap but I’m ok with that, to be honest I love the price point, most around $20 for an entire series. By all means the quality of the anime is still there and the product itself is solid, I just don’t like that ugly label.

Note: These are my opinions and views on this game, I am aware that this is an open beta and that this game is still incomplete. I do not mean to disrespect or hate on this game as it still has a long way to go to being finished, so if your easily offended or harbor some nerd rage about this topic feel free to leave a comment at the bottom.

Over the past few days I have been playing Final Fantasy 14 to simply find out if this is going to be my next big time sink. Initially I was excited and I could not wait to play this new installment, boy was I in for a letdown. This game had so much potential but just does not deliver to the hype its pumping out.  Just getting into the open beta has been half the battle and things have been a mess all over.

The Lack of content, crashes, primitive interface, clunky game play, not enough mobs, not enough quests, poor map, translation errors, poor chat system, poor macro system, lack of skills, lack of items\vendors, and lack of support. For example when you hit the help button nothing happens, when you alt tab the game crashes randomly making it hard to look things up.

This game just does not seem complete, I almost wish that they would take this game out of beta and delay the launch a few more months just to iron out the bugs and inject some more content. Is it worth the $70+ monthly fee, to me that answer is currently no. But I wanted this game to be good so much, I had a lot of hope coming in but those feelings have since been extinguished and replaced by disappointment. I’m not saying this game is the worst I’ve ever played but damn it’s trying hard. Don’t get me wrong this game looks and sounds Amazing, and is vastly ahead of anything else on the market in terms of graphics in MMOS but this simply is just not enough to sway me away from saying that overall my experience has been poor.

If your a fan of the slayers or Eden of the East you owe it to yourself to pre-order these Blu-Ray’s today or at least buy them when they come out. These are all shows that are already out on DVD but for some reason are several months behind on the Blu-ray release. If you recall I wrote a rant about Slayers revolution not being launched on Blu-ray or combo pack and that the DVD release was years after the first show aired. (LINK HERE) But finally here they are and I can’t wait to get my hands on them.

The Product descriptions are from Funimation provided to Amazon.com

Slayers Revolution: The original cast of Slayers is reunited for the first time in over a decade in Slayers Revolution – a totally new season full of the magical mayhem that can only happen when Lina Inverse and her crew pull into town. Lina’s on the run from a government inspector who’s ready to put her away for good. Her crime? Just being herself! The guy’s hot on her tail, but a tiny creature that actually has a tail might be Lina’s biggest problem. Pokota’s a powerful little furball, and his path of destruction is getting pinned on Lina. With so much explosive magic between them, you know things will go boom when they face off. But there’s more to Pokota than anyone knows, and if Lina’s gang can get to the bottom of his habit of blowing stuff up, they could end up with an awesome new ally.

Slayers Evolution R: The magical mayhem of The Slayers Revolution continues in The Slayers Evolution-R! With the original cast of The Slayers back together for the first time in over a decade, Lina Inverse and her crew are reunited and doing what they do best – saving the world by almost destroying it! Lina’s gang and their new ally Pokota are hot on the trail of the Hellmaster’s Jar! It’s no ordinary piece of pottery: it holds the soul of Rezo the Red Priest. Opening the vessel and resurrecting Rezo is the only hope Pokota has of saving his kingdom’s people. With masked assassins, headless knights, and shifty Xellos in the mix, one thing is certain – destruction is guaranteed!

Eden of the East : Akira Takizawa wakes up naked outside the White House with no memories. He’s got a gun in one hand, a cell phone in the other, and doesn’t know if he’s a good guy or one of the worst. He doesn’t remember the phone gives him instant access to ten billion yen and a woman who can make his most outlandish requests a reality. He doesn’t recall his connection to the ongoing missile attacks terrorizing the Japanese people. Or the part he played in the sudden disappearance of 20,000 shut-ins. He doesn’t even remember he’s supposed to save Japan and will be murdered if he fails. Whatever it is he’s tangled up in, Takizawa’s definitely in deep – and that’s not even scratching the surface.

This was a post I actually ran into on a few other sources but it is a question that I have been asked countless times, by many people unfamiliar or just breaking into Anime. The person that actually created this post brings up some good points and the video its self adds a somewhat convincing opinion as to ‘why’ it is believed.

Why do the Japanese draw themselves as white? You see that especially in manga and anime.

The gallery is back online but the theme seems to be off and we are getting a few errors on our side that we are aware of and working with. We hope to be back to fully functional in a few days time or sooner. We have been testing various themes and site layouts to find something works well for us, we are working on a custom theme and again we hope to have it done in a few weeks time.

Thank you for reading

A few days ago I posted an article about the rumors floating around about the surplus XP system, well these rumors are only found to be some what true but mostly lacking solid facts. I recently found an article that pretty much points out exactly what my thoughts on the system are.  Here is short clip from the top of the article and a link to the full article. Many thanks to some honest beta players and Giuseppe Nelva of “This is my Joystick.com” for bringing some truth to the table. I understand that many gamers are rather upset about this system if you are one of them please read the linked article it best explains the system and does it honestly.

Link here please read me!

In the last few days some “information” about the so called “fatigue” system in the upcoming MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV by Square Enix (you can also read my in-depth hands on article), stirred a real uproar across the internet.

A few misleading articles by the otaku site Sankaku Complex, full of mistranslations and omissions that seemed quite intentional, given the past hate-filled articles by the site on anything pertaining Square Enix. These misconceptions spread like wildfire and gave the general audience a quite warped vision of the system and the game. Unfortunately even more sanctioned websites decided to approach the matter in a sensationalistic way, also omitting some crucial information.

With September creeping up on us, so does the release of many great games. Just one of these is the awaited expansion to the MMO with a lot of the ‘improvements’ shown in the vision mentioned here. Right from the get go, the first thing you’ll notice is the change to to the log-in screen which has been completely revamped, in addition to randomized with around six-in-total logins.

First Login screen

A preview of login.
