SO Funimation launched their page on Crackle last week and I can say it’s pretty ok. That last sentience was a little lame but hey here is one to another, but why just ok. To be blunt it is just not impressive, it has issues, and it’s not anywhere even near crunchy roll or netflix in terms of quality or selection.

This service is not owned or controlled by funimation, so my finger is pointing at Crackle. Crackle host a large variety of shows from around the world, but seems to favor American cable TV crowd. Their definition of a new show is already 3 years old, and the selection of shows to me is pretty poor, I would not waste time with this service, just visit crunchy roll instead or even Funimations official website. Crackle currently host 238 episodes total of anime. Many of shows hosted are incomplete, american edited, or can be viewed in higher quality on other hosts or services.

I understand Funi is trying to expand it’s digital foot print but this really could have been done better. Quality of product is the major issue, the selection itself is fairly good but mostly old. I still feel that lack of “care for quality” is going to drive fans to other outlets. I think Funi thinks we are blind, deft and dumb, why down scale shows made in high def for high def! But hey at least it’s free…

- Mostly Free 99.9%
- Fast
- Good shows, in fact some of the best! Mostly Classics from what I’ve seen.

Cons
- Lots of Ads
- Flash compatibility issues
- Shows crash because of poor ad integration
- Low quality 240-480p most shows are down scaled… NO HD!!!
- No choice on subs or dubs
- Poor quality Subs
- Poor quality audio mono is some cases
