Suggested Reading: Walls of TL;DR
From time to time, a blog will come along and change the way you think about life… This ain’t such a blog but it is still worth reading! Authored by the infamous TheFluff (a fansubber), this blog is a direct peek into the world of an encoder. One thing I can easily say about fluff, he may be a sarcastic bastard but he is always right and always angry. Consider this a bit of filler in between waves of NDK 2009 coverage but it is a blog I have been reading for a while and it is always enjoyable. NDK Videos are on the way folks! They take the longest to process I am ungodly busy but I promise they are in the works! Expect them to start appearing this week. Also expect a reorganization of the coverage pages to make them a little easier to link to and share. Thanks you, and good night!
Note: If you enjoy our coverage of NDK or just like the site, please subscribe to the RSS Feed and keep current on our articles!
Panel Announcement!
Let me be the first to announce my very own panel at this years Nan Desu Kan 2009. The name of the panel? “The Death of the Anime Industry”
I know that the name is scary but I want to scare people because the situation with anime is pretty scary right now. With the recent closure of ADV, the financial downturn is rearing its ugly head yet again.
NDK 2009 Press Release
Here we have it, the official Press Release from the head guys at NDK.
The announcement provides a summary of all of the guests as well as a pricing for the convention. All of this can be found at NDK’s website.
Shojo Beat Shutters
Imagine a thousand fangirls crying out in an instant. That is the type of reaction I expect from Shojo Beat closing its doors. The July issue of Shojo Beat that will be its last. The publication by Viz is getting the axe but they appear to be doing it in a much more tolerable way than Newtype USA did.
Vista/Windows 7 x64 CCCP Fix
If you watch anything more than WMA or Quicktime on your computer, you will know that codecs are your best friend and worst enemy when it comes to playback. The best codec pack(This is fact because I am saying it!) is the Combined Community Codec Pack or CCCP for short. All you have to do is download the installer and let it run. The default settings allow playback in either Media Player Classic or Zoom Player, which I prefer the latter of the two. If you use Windows Vista x64 or 7 x64 then you may have some issues concerning the playback using the default settings of Zoom Player(At least I know I did). Here are the steps I took to fix this issue!.
The Coolest Nike Commercial Ever
All I can say about this is just WOAH. The description says that it was made in collaboration with Morimoto Kouji from Studio 4 ℃. The advertisement is for Nikeid which is not one that we are familiar with out here in the states but if it brings commercials like this then I welcome it with open arms. We need more interesting advertisements like this, our TV has been getting bland. Now watch and behold this 1 minute of interesting, this is what I find randomly because I have my youtube localization set to japanese thanks to a good suggestion by Yudothat. I get the feeds from the popular videos on the japanese version of youtube so I can check out my animu related content faster and be a really cool guy. The things I do for you reader(s).
Super Mega AnimeRoot Smut Scanathon 2: Scan Harder – Electric Boogaloo
In a tradition we are now dubbing the Smut Scanathon, where the admins here at AR purchse shameless porn doujinshi from conventions and scan them onto their computers so they keep them in mint condition forever, we have done it again. None of this is distributed online or outside of the personal network, it is just for backup purposes. Last year at NDK 2008 we did the exact same thing after the convention, this time we are doing it during the con since we are not actually staying at the hotel Wasabi is at(we are just attending Saturday for the pictures and friday we hit up the dealers room). Between 3 people, as I didn’t feel inclined to purchase any, there was over $350 spent on doujinshi and publications. Thats a lot of smut!
